1. Introduction
Dew is a skincare product analysis app that helps you make personalized product decisions based on your skin profile. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Dew.
Dew is operated by Founding Llama. By using Dew, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
Dew is designed to minimize data collection.
Information you provide:
- Skin assessment responses — Your skin type, skincare goals, known ingredient sensitivities, skincare philosophy, age range, gender, and city. This information is used solely to generate personalized product verdicts.
- Photos — Routine photos (photos of your current skincare products) and product scan photos (photos of individual products you scan). These are uploaded for AI analysis to identify products and their ingredients.
- Daily check-in data — Mood selections (Great, Good, Okay, Rough) and optional notes you add to your skin journal.
Account information (when you sign in):
- Sign in with Apple — Dew uses Sign in with Apple for accounts. When you sign in, Apple shares a stable user identifier and an email address with us. The email is either your real Apple ID email or, if you choose, an Apple-managed private relay address that forwards to you. If you choose to share it, Apple may also pass your name on first sign-in. We do not see or store your Apple ID password.
- Anonymous device identifier — Before you sign in, a randomly generated ID is stored locally on your device so your skin profile can be saved during onboarding. When you sign in, this ID is linked to your account so your data follows you across devices.
- Subscription status — If you subscribe to Dew, we store your subscription status (active, expired, or none) to determine which features to unlock. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple — we never receive or store your payment method, credit card number, or Apple ID password.
Information we do NOT collect:
- Payment information (handled entirely by Apple)
- Location data (city is self-reported, not tracked)
- Browsing history or usage analytics
- Contacts, calendar, or other device data
- Advertising identifiers
3. How We Use Your Information
- Skin assessment data is used to generate personalized product verdicts, sensitivity alerts, and routine analysis within the app.
- Photos are uploaded to our cloud infrastructure for AI-powered product identification and ingredient analysis. Photos are processed to extract product information and are not retained indefinitely after analysis.
- Daily check-in data is used to build your personal skin journal, accessible only to you within the app.
- Device identifier is used to store and retrieve your profile data so it persists between app sessions.
4. Third-Party Services
Dew uses the following third-party services to provide its core functionality:
- Clerk — Used as our authentication provider for Sign in with Apple. Clerk receives the identifier and email Apple shares when you sign in, and stores them so we can recognize you on return visits. Clerk Privacy Policy
- Google Gemini API— Used for image analysis (identifying products from photos). Photos are sent to Google's API for processing. Google Privacy Policy
- OpenAI API — Used for text analysis, ingredient research, and generating personalized verdicts. Your skin profile data (not photos) is sent to OpenAI for analysis. OpenAI Privacy Policy
- Convex — Used as our cloud data storage platform. Your profile and scan data are stored securely on Convex servers. Convex Privacy Policy
- Apple (In-App Purchases) — Subscription payments are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information. Apple Privacy Policy
We do not use any analytics SDKs, advertising networks, social media trackers, or other third-party services beyond those listed above.
6. Data Retention & Deletion
Your skin profile and scan history persist on our servers until you request deletion.
To delete your data: Email us at bryan@foundingllama.com and request that your data be deleted. We will remove all of your assessment data, scan history, check-in records, and device association within 30 days of your request.
Product scan photos are processed for ingredient identification and are not retained indefinitely after the analysis is complete.
7. Children's Privacy
Dew is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and may notify you within the app. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
